Le duo Ana Almeida et Ian Ji propose un programme minimaliste, introduit par Spiegel im Spiegel et
Fratres d’Arvo Pärt, des œuvres au caractère mystique où pureté et
simplicité sont au cœur de l’expression musicale.
Le concert se conclut avec la Sonate pour violon de Philip Glass, l’un des compositeurs contemporains les plus influents, reconnu pour son style musical répétitif et méditatif.
Cette sonate vous entraîne dans un voyage à travers des instants fugaces, avec une construction et une déconstruction progressives.
Ian and Ana met during their studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. Their strong friendship and shared passion for minimalist music led to the creation of their violin and piano duo.
Ian Ji is a Belgian violinist of Chinese origin.
He obtained his Master’s degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, where he
studied under Yuzuko Horigome. During his training, he collaborated with renowned violinists such as Rodney Friend, Joel Smirnoff, Dong-Suk Kang, Siyeon Ryu, Cihat Aşkın, So-Ock Kim, Eric Robberecht, and Alice Van Leuven. From a young age, he has been a member of the Westhoek Consort string ensemble, of which he remains an active member today. Ian also teaches violin at De Academie Ieper.
Ana Almeida is a Portuguese pianist with a diverse repertoire. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Porto under the guidance of Madalena Soveral, and then pursued a Master’s degree at the
Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel with Jan
Michiels. She later furthered her training with a postgraduate program under Piet Kuijken. During her studies, she worked with renowned pianists such as Eldar Nebolsin, Aleksandar Madžar, Imogen Cooper, Amy Lin, Boyan Vodenitcharov, and Katia Veekmans.
Ana teaches piano at the Gemeentelijke Academie voor Muziek en Woord Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe, as well as at the Jetse Academie.
From an early age, she sang in a choir and played the Iberian organ at the Monastery of Pombeiro. Today, she regularly provides organ accompaniment for liturgical celebrations in Brussels, notably at the Basilica of Koekelberg.
