You've heard of The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance and Hms Pinafore - three well-known comic operas written by Gilbert & Sullivan - but did you know that Britain's famous 19th-century duo wrote fourteen operas altogether ? Their first big success was The Sorcerer, in which a love-philtre, administered to a whole village in nothing more sinister than a traditional English teapot, results in a comical series of illassorted matches. Like all the other G&S operas, The Sorcerer combines Sullivan's immortal melodies with the wit and humour of Gilbert's lyrics, and at the same time pokes fun at English hypercorrectness !

The Sorcerer - just your cup of tea !
