The Hopscotch Trio- Tango Nuevo

The Hopscotch trio (THT) is the encounter of Victor Villena (bandoneon), Pablo Murgier (piano), and Ariel Eberstein (double bass), three Argentinians with large career backgrounds living in France and Belgium. The name « The Hopscotch », after the main book of Latin-American literature (Rayuela) written by celebrity writer Julio Cortázar, fills perfectly the artistic needs of this trio member. The Hopscotch trio proposes three tango musicians, bringing their new creations, a renewed musical language through a chamber music process, leaning on an iconic jazz formation: the trio, having the bandoneon instead of the drums. This combination is an institution by itself, The Hopscotch appeals to a very rich and diverse tradition of legendary trios including Keith Jarret, Chick Corea, Beytelmann-Mosalini-Caratini, Vanguatrio, Manolo Juarez among others. The musical language of The Hopscotch trio fuses all these elements, but it is not seeking for clear linearity towards any genre, as well as in Cortazar's book... The Hopscotch trio invites the public to experience the choice of the elements it listens to, in order to create its own comprehension, its own feelings, its own universe... there is no predominant element, no predominant composition, neither style nor musician...

The Hopscotch trio looks for balance !

Victor Villena – bandoneón
Pablo Murgier – piano
Ariel Eberstein – contrabajo
