Shouvik Mukherjee & Souvik Datta- Indian Sitar & Tabla

 
Shouvik Mukherjee is one of the finest musicians of the younger generations from
India. He is at ease with the traditional classical as well as the new age music of today.
His creative finesse is evident in Hindustani Classical Music; while his predilection for
auspiciously fusing cross-genre music into seamless tracks has been already acknowledged throughout India.

At a tender age, he was initiated to playing the sitar, and Classical Vocal Music too. In
the early years, Shouvik received tutelage from renowned Classical Instrumentalist
(Sitar) Bimal Chatterjee, who belonged to the Enayet Khan Gharana (School). Later on, he was fortunate to receive training from the sitar virtuoso Pandit Kushal Das (Senia Maihar Gharana),
which he continues till date.
SHOUVIK finished with First class First position in Bachelor of Arts [Major:INSTRUMENTAL Music (SITAR)] in from Rabindra Bharati University-Kolkata, an internationally recognized varsity for its noted Fine Arts Faculty. Subsequently, in he completed his Masters Degree with First Class Marks too. Besides, he is studying Western Staff Notation and playing piano to sharpen his skill as composer in cross-genre music arena.
He has widely performed all over India and in Europe since about a decade now.
Born to musical parents, Souvik Datta's early grooming was initiated in North Indian Classical Vocal Music from his mother Smt. Sumita Dutta.
His formal taalim (guidance) in tabla commenced under the privileged guidance of internationally acclaimed maestro Tanmoy Bose at the tender age of 9 and continued for 10 long years. Rabindra Bharati University (Kolkata). He has done Masters in Indian Percussion Music (tabla) from the same university. Ever since he has taken up as a professional percussionist participating in India and abroad collaborating with musicians of varied genres.
