Piano and song recital: Schumann, Chopin, Messiaen:Kristien Nijs, Oliver Reusens

Kristien Nijs( Soprano) & Oliver Reusens( Piano)

in 1840, Robert Schumann married Clara Wieck. He composed a cycle of 16 songs entitled Dichterliebe, melodies for voice and piano to poems by German Heinrich Heine. At the time, the song, a melody sung briefly, was renewed with the romantic movement in the service of an entirely inner lyrical eloquence. In Dichterliebe, the pieces are closely linked. The first three express the cheer of spring, amorous joy and happiness of life. From the fourth onwards, a more melancholic tone emerges.
Soprano Kristien Nijs and pianist Oliver Reusens invite you to a Sunday afternoon concert with songs by Messiaen and Schumann, combined with Chopin's second Scherzo.
Program:
Olivier Messiaen – Trois Mélodies
Fréderic Chopin – Scherzo . 31
