'Bâtard' means 'bastard'. But it also stands for hybrid, for raw and cutting edge work, batard stands for a way of doing art that avoids labels, and categories. Bâtard Festival tries to break away from labels, cliches and intellectualism. We rather prefer to encourage a spontaneous connection/reaction than impose an interpretation.

This year’s edition, From Solids to Liquids, attempts to address the current relationship between the cultural institutions and the art emerging from other contexts. The possible liquidity of artistic practices are more than ready to emerge, however, the great diversity of formats is often reduced to the most recognizable ones to ensure a certain solidity in an ever-changing field.
