Soprano: Esther-Elisabeth Rispens Piano: Matthieu IdmtalIn 2023, we celebrated the 150th anniversary of Rachmaninoff, and in 2024, we commemorate the 175th death anniversary of Chopin, who passed away in 1849. It is not surprising that soprano Esther-Elisabeth Rispens and pianist Matthieu Idmtal join forces and dedicate their program in the 2023-2024 season to these two maestros. Rachmaninoff composed songs throughout almost his entire life, and the duo presents a diverse selection from his repertoire. Chopin, whose entire oeuvre consists almost exclusively of solo piano pieces, composed only one song cycle (Opus 74), and a selection from it is also featured. Although Chopin's language may seem simpler at first glance, his work will be a significant source of inspiration for Rachmaninoff. Thus, the two are inextricably linked.
