Johannes Brahms: 3 Violin and Piano sonatas

Brahms composed his three violin sonatas between 1879 and 1888, creating a central part of the chamber music repertoire that showcases a deep partnership between violin and piano. The Sonata No. 1 in G Major, Op. 78 is often described as warm and tender, while the Sonata No. 2 in A Major, Op. 100 offers a more sublime, song-like quality. The Sonata No. 3 in D minor, Op. 108 is more dramatic and fiery, a stark contrast to the others, notable for its lean, economical
structure and passionate intensity.
